I love this place and go again and again. Great service, atmosphere and food is delicious. After a long day stopped in for a late lunch + do some work last week and got (1) my favorite waitress/server, so professional, attentive and efficient (2) favorite entree, the salmon cozy (3) delicious simple green salad, excellent vinaigrette (4) a warm frothy cafe au lait served in a bowl a la francaise. Next time will have (5) the hot apple cobbler the folks next to us ordered with a big dollop of vanilla ice cream on top. Roses is a gem. Comfortable and never rushed. We locals love you.
As someone who come from Europe/UK/Tunisian
I got shocked by the wild amarican rework on classic dishes, it’s completely different dishes that don’t taste or look like European one anymore ????
The service was great, and it was a nice cozy place to have lunch on a dreary day.
My friend and I both ordered the hash and it was not good - it was more like soft boiled potatoes that were slightly pan fried with poached eggs on top. It was pretty colorless and flavorless.
Luckily, I was able to add plenty of salt and hot sauce, so it was passable in flavor, if not texture, but I didn’t bother to finish it.
The blood orange hot tea was really tasty though, and our server was a gem. I think next time I’ll get a pastry and tea instead.
Great atmosphere for brunch. Food leaves room for improvement.
The good
- fried egg on the breakfast pizza was excellent. if you get a breakfast pizza see if you can get 2x extra fried eggs
- the jam that came w homemade bread
The improvement
- Breakfast pizzas (except the frie egg) were mid, would definitely skip unless you can get extra fried eggs
- The homemade bread didn’t meet expectation of homemade bread
Not how I remember it prior to 2006, when I used to frequent this place when I'd stay in the Marina district and walk to Rose's for their breakfast pizzas.
I brought my niece recently for a dinner pizza and it was more like a cracker pizza and small. Very crunchy and neither of us felt it hit the mark our craving for pizza so despite the $30 or so out the door for the small pizza we had boxed to give away, we drove back to North Beach for some good pizza. Nice service though still here at Rose's on a quaint corner in Marina District.
I'd like a couple more flexible options for Brunch without having to pay an arm and a leg to order sides of things, but other than that the food is amazing.
wouldn’t spend the money for a full meal again. would be a good place for a cup of coffee and a pastry but the food is expensive and is trying too hard. should just be simple diner food but the breakfast sandwich had more broccoli on it than anything else…
Food was delicious. The baked goods were fabulous, coffee cake and chocolate croissants yummy. The table had the stuffed Focaccia, breakfast sandwich and the mushroom spinach pizza. All very tasty and very large portions. Staff was very attentive. Seating available both inside and out.
Outstanding everything. Very friendly staff and manager Jesse was extremely welcoming and helpful with the area. If I'm ever in San Francisco again, I will definitely be back.

I preferred the fried eggs and ham pizza mainly because the eggs were a yummy addition.
The soft scramble was also fine.
Bread, butter and jam - the rhubarb jam was good but the bread was nothing special. I was hoping for more given it said “house-baked” on the menu.
We had a table outside which was great given the nice weather.
It is worth a visit to try the pizzas but wouldn’t go out of my way to go back.
The food was delicious.
Very nice atmosphere!

Ask for the smokey habanero hot sauce
Can’t beat it
