Caribbean restaurant with a long and interesting history as one of the founding businesses in Tortuguero. Make sure you read the history at the back of the menu. We didn’t stay at the lodge but it looks nice and is well situated at the north end of town yet serene.

This is my grandma's hotel, Miss Junie is a family business, owned by the founders of Tortuguero. This hotel is the result of many years of effort, hard work, sacrifice and vision from the women of the family. We have 24 rooms, now all with AC, we have a nice pool, an amazing restaurant where you can try authentic Caribbean dishes (try the coconut rice beans with fish, jerk chicken or ginger shrimp, you can also request the fish rondon soup (reserve a day prior, very elaborate dish, takes time to prepare) & more.
The property is located at the end of the village, just a couple of minutes walk from the school and the main path with all the shops, restaurants, etc. The hotel has the river in front and the Caribbean Sea in the back, you're surrounded by water, very relaxing and peaceful.
I recommend booking the tours with us directly, activities like canoeing the national park's river canals, hiking Tortuguero Hill, a fun coconut tour, rainforest night walk & more. Who better than the founders to know about the village, it's history and biodiversity?.

Chambre un peu simple et vieillotte mais quel emplacement. La rivière est à 30m devant et la mer à 50m derrière.

Nice lodge with good value for money. It is located at the end of the town, in a beautiful garden with a nice and clean swimming pool and with views to Tortuguero canal. It also has a direct path to the beach on the other side. The staff were very friendly. We only tried the breakfast one day as the restaurant was closed during Christmas. It was simple but tasty (typical eggs with gallo pinto and fruits).

Hôtel simple mais sympathique. La piscine est vraiment bien mais ça manque un peu de transats si on est nombreux. Accès à la plage super simple et on est au bout de la rue principale qui mène aussi au Parc national donc impossible de se perdre.
Le personnel de l’hôtel a été très compréhensif avec nos horaires et nous ont laissé un petit dej après que le service soit terminé car notre activité était avant l’ouverture et nous rentrions après la fermeture.

2* hotel which is dated. Plus points is on beach and pool. Rooms are dated, no fridge, hot water is inconsistent. Restaurant is very over priced and small portions - best avoid and find something to eat in town

Tortuguero is an adventure and Miss Junies is the superb core. My 2nd visit but not my last!!!!

Hôtel simple mais sympathique. La piscine est bien entretenue et agréable, l'accès a la plage est un réel plus ! Les petits déjeuners sont bons et le personnel agréable.

Wir übernachteten insgesamt 2 Nächte in der Miss Junies Lodge.
Die Unterkunft liegt ruhig, am Ende der Hauptstraße an einem ruhigen Punkt zwischen dem Meer und des Flusses. Vom Zimmer aus hört man die Wellen rauschen.
Die Zimmer sind etwas in die Jahre gekommen und dunkel, aber sehr sauber.
Die Betreiber-Familie ist sehr freundlich.
Man gab uns gute Tipps für die Umgebung und restliche Karibik.
Frühstück gibt es bis 9 Uhr. nach einem Ausflug in der Früh kehrten wir erst um 09:30 Uhr ins Hotel zurück, bekamen dennoch frisches Frühstück. Das Frühstück wird von der Eigentümerin nach Bedarf frisch gemacht. Es gab kein Buffet.
Die Anlage verfügt über einen schönen, großen Pool. Wir hatten das Glück, dass wir den Pool für uns nutzen konnten.
Im Garten kann man verschiedene Tiere beobachten.
Ich kann die Unterkunft wärmstens empfehlen.

Best Caribbean food we had. jerk chicken was delicious. Bread fruit was also great. Highly recommended. Bring cash.

We really enjoyed our stay, and overall it's a great value. Really nice pool. Steps from the river and a beautiful beach (no swimming). A great location for exploring the town. My family loved the relaxed outdoor vibe, the friendly dogs and the yummy breakfast.
The rooms have new air conditioners, which is really nice at night. Otherwise our downstairs rooms were about what you would expect at this price. We were annoyed that we didn't get the nicer upstairs rooms that we had reserved online. But in the end this place won us over.
We enjoyed the turtle tour with Miss Noli (spelling). It was interesting to hear about her many years of experience protecting the turtles.

The lodge is situated perfectly, at the beginning of the center yet completely isolated in a big and wonderful garden. Nolly and her team were incredibly welcoming and kind. I would highly recommend staying here, the lodge has a very long history and this adds big value. They arranged all our tours and transport - always finding a solution for our needs, making our stay just magical! For example, where other groups had to visit the turtles in large numbers we did it together with the owner - just the three of us! Many examples like this. As a bonus they also serve the best pico de gallo in all of Costa Rica for breakfast. So to summarise: your stay supports a family owned business with a long history for Tortuguero. You will not be disappointed.

We were there to eat breakfast only. I ate pancakes and it was so delicious. So only for the breakfast i would recommend to eat breakfast some time when you spend time on tortugero.

I had a good time at miss junies lodge. Big nice pool, rooms are comfortable and clean. Lots of animals to discover in the garden!! Breakfast was great. Dinner disappointment. Also some really sweet dogs on the property. The location is not ideal if you are alone, since it’s on the end of the long street. But the good thing is is that there is security on the property.
Chloied the guide from miss Junies was the best one on the whole trip. He knows a lot and discovered a lot of animals. He really touched me with his knowledge. Before going to Costa Rica, I had ideas about how Costa Rica would be. The tour with cloied was exactly what I had envisioned!
There was also a young guy working at breakfast. (Sorry difficult name :)). He was very friendly!

Das Zimmer war sehr dunkel (komplett mit Holz ausgestattet), wenn man Platzangst hat ist es nicht optimal. Das Bad ist auseinandergefallen, Wasser kam auch kaum aus dem Wasserhahn. Klimaanlage ist installiert, funktioniert aber nicht. Allgemein ist es sehr laut. Das Frühstück und der Service waren gut. Der Garten des Hotels ist schön, aber leider hat es überall Hundehaufen. Pool vorhanden, direkt am sehr wilden Meer. Der Standort ist optimal.
